Here’s our summer Reggio-inspired, planet-friendly week that can be adapted into your own space—whether it’s a classroom, playroom, or living room.
🌞 Monday – “Mindful Mornings”
Kindness + Creativity Activity: Make time for mindfulness and guided meditation using scripts from Green Child Magazine or build stories with our Cork Kids That Care set. Create characters and make up a mini adventure where someone helps a neighbor, rescues a pet, or solves a small problem. Kids can draw story scenes afterward.
🌿 Tuesday – “Tinker with Nature”
STEAM + Nature Activity: Use corks, rubber bands, and craft sticks to build floating boats. Experiment in a bin or bathtub and ask, “What helps it float straight?” Or use Mio Reggio natural cork blocks to draw a design, build and wash it off (using washable crayons) – a fun activity combining sustainability, imagination and designing skills.
🌎 Wednesday – “Green City Builders”
Climate Awareness + Urban Planning Activity: Create your own Green City. Use blocks, cork pieces, cardboard, and drawings to create a mini eco-friendly city. Add parks, bike lanes, solar panels, and compost stations. What do you think a future eco-city will look like?
🎨 Thursday – “Eco-Art Studio”
Reuse + Expression Activity: Make nature prints. Use corks as stamps or natural items like leaves, pinecones, or bark to create art. Talk about where each item came from and why reusing matters. Process art is lots of fun so let your creativity shine!
📚 Friday – “Feelings Friday”
Emotional Intelligence + Reflection Activity: Let kids decorate cork circles with faces showing different emotions. Use them to talk through experiences that made them feel happy, nervous, excited, etc. The early years are the best time to foster self-regulation skills that will last a lifetime. #reggioinspired #naturalplay #STEAMlearning #ecofriendlyplay #openendedlearning
